No. There are a few things to do to the outside yet and next up is to tear out the rear end and put in 3.25 gears. That's a pretty big task on the '35. I got lucky on ebay again and got a brand new, in the box set of 3.25s for $286 shipped. I want to finish up the rest so it will cruise this summer.

I'm thinking the torque tube enclosed driveshaft rearend was not one of Henry's brightest ideas. What a pain in the ass to get out of the car! And I'm planning on it being a bigger pain to get it back in. I've got it all apart now and will clean it up before putting in the new 3.25 gears. Everything looks good except one bearing and it just has a little chip in one roller. Wish it was back together for a little cruising in this nice weather.

Man, that's a loaded question...

I'm not sure what to use in the rear for lube.  Looks like a lot of people use the newer synthetic. It's some heavy stuff and now that I have it apart I can see why.  It lubes all the rear end bearings except the outters on the axles.

I just read a few weeks ago that Ford had a special heavy lube that is available from some of antique stores. I used 80-90 in the RPU and it very slowly seeps out around the bell gaskets. Not a big deal as it easy to get at to clean off. Don't think I would use synthetic.

Yes the out side bearing needed to be greased. One of the reasons you have a hard time finding good outside bearings and races is that people didn't grease them.

Now that it's all broke down, I need three bearings. Mac's is about the best deal. So I'll order some of the 600W that's supposed to go in it from them as well. That must be some thick shit.  I wonder if you have to spoon it in...
